SubMemory ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Subscription Data: Information about your subscriptions that you manually enter or import, including subscription names, amounts, billing cycles, and categories. This data is stored only on your device.
• SMS Data (On-Device Processing Only): If you choose to scan for subscriptions via SMS, the app reads transaction-related messages from your device to detect recurring payments. SMS content is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to any server. No SMS data is stored beyond the session used for detection.
• Photo Data (On-Device Processing Only): If you choose to import screenshots for subscription detection, selected images are processed using on-device OCR (Optical Character Recognition) via Apple's Vision framework. Images are never uploaded to any server. Only text extracted from bank/payment screenshots is used to identify subscriptions.
• Usage Data: Anonymous usage analytics to help us improve the app, including feature usage patterns and crash reports.
• Device Data: Device type, operating system version, and locale for compatibility purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the SubMemory service
• Detect and track your subscriptions from SMS and screenshots
• Send you notifications about billing reminders and price changes
• Generate savings reports and spending insights
• Improve and optimize our app experience

3. Data Storage and Security

• Local Storage: All your data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. No data is transmitted to or stored on our servers.
• On-Device Processing: SMS scanning and OCR screenshot analysis are performed entirely on your device. No text, images, or financial data leave your device.
• No Server Storage: SubMemory operates entirely on-device. We do not maintain a central database of user financial information.

4. Third-Party Services

SubMemory does not integrate with any third-party services that collect or transmit your personal data. Specifically:

• No Bank Connection Service: We do not use Plaid or any other bank connection API. Subscription detection is done locally via SMS scanning and screenshot OCR.
• No Cloud Sync: Data is not synced via iCloud or any cloud service. All data remains on your device only.
• Apple Vision Framework: Used for on-device OCR text recognition from screenshots. This framework runs entirely on your device and does not send data to Apple servers.

5. Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes
• We do not collect or store bank account login credentials
• We do not track your location
• We do not access your contacts
• We do not use your data for advertising
• We do not transmit SMS content or photos to any server
• We do not use any cloud service to store your financial data

6. Permissions We Request

• Photo Library Access: Requested only when you choose to import screenshots for subscription detection. You can deny this permission and still use all other features.
• Notifications: Requested to send billing reminders and forgotten subscription alerts. You can disable notifications at any time in Settings.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View all data stored by the app at any time
• Delete: Delete any subscription or all data at any time through the app's settings
• Export: Export your data before deletion
• Opt-out: Disable analytics and notifications in Settings

8. Children's Privacy

SubMemory is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy within the app and updating the "Last updated" date.
